Hyderabad
Yesterday I was passing by the Airport and the big billboard cuaght my attention! A buxom with a message reading at the bottom ... News Made Exciting !!! Deccan Chronicle (a vernacular in Andhra Pradesh) ! It took a while for me to understand what exactly was the advertisement.... but fore sure.. it provided enough visual entertainment :-)))
On a serious note, what disturbed me was the caption... News Made Exciting !!!
Now if you are a moron (like I am)... you would ask... what is there for a News (in first place) ... to be Made (as if these guys are helping it become juicy).. Exciting ! I didnt get it at first go. How can someone make something that happened yesterday.. exciting for a person reading it today.. and whats the use of that excitement??
But after a little pondering, I started searching for excitement in today's newspaper!
1. "Police Ban Doubles on 2 Wheelers in Old City" (this is in the wake of last friday's bomb blasts in Hyderabad)
I read the title... the news item.. but could hardly find the excitement ! I tried reading the caption again loudly with different pauses... in exciting tone and my better half shouted at me to keep mum, as our lil one was sleeping!
With this experience, I thought, let me give one more try ....
2. "Parties want KCR seat saved !" (this has reference to Karimnagar constituency of K Chandrashekar Rao of TRS fame being reserved for some other category)
Again my experiments began, trying to look for excitement... same ordeal, same result.. a banging from my better half ! I couldnt understand where I was going wrong... why was I not able to find any excitment.. which will make my whole day exciting... and I will jump out of home with excitment overflowing my actions! So I gave up... thought the banner was as good only to feel excited looking at the 'item number' !
But the tube light clicked now at 1400 hours post lunch....
"Police Ban Doubles on 2 Wheelers in Old City ... because Parties want KCR seat saved !!!"
Whoa... what an exciting news !
The 'news made exciting' culture of the media will take its own toll on the newspaper enthusiasts. Already the size of news paper has increased and the readable conent in it has come down. The news papers have turned 'all coloured', with every alternate page showing some sexy curvatures of unknown figures!
This is media for you Indians... times are chaning... and thus the news need to change too... exciting times are ahead !
Happy Reading News Papers !!!!!
